Tool Tethering

Tool Tethering

Falling tools and other objects are the cause of around 1800 serious injuries a year, as the third biggest killer in the workplace it is a real threat that cannot be ignored. To illustrate the problem, a bolt weighing 220g has the impact force of a 50kg washing machine when dropped over 23 metres, and the impact force of a 2kg hammer dropped from a height of six metres is the same as a 117kg baby elephant!

According to Working At Height Regulation 2005, “Every employer shall, where necessary to prevent injury to any person, take suitable and sufficient steps to prevent, so far as is reasonably practicable, the fall of any material or object”.
One way to prevent these accidents from happening is by tethering tools while working at height.

Tool tethers allow tools to be securely attached to either a fixed point or the person using them, providing a fall arrest if they are accidentally dropped or dislodged. This prevents the possibility of injury to people below or damage to expensive equipment like production lines.

Enfield Safety stock a wide range of reliable and cost effective tool tethering systems including retractable tool lanyards, suitable for contractors and operatives who work at height. Designed with the user in mind, our tethers allow freedom of movement and do not affect the functionality of the tethered tool.

We have a variety of tool tethering equipment for scaffolders, including tethered hand tools and scaffold wrist tethers. Buy online from our secure, user friendly website or speak to one of our experienced sales team on 0333 003 5710.
