Cut Resistant Gloves & Sleeves

Cut Resistant Gloves

If it’s your job to ensure the safety of everyone in your workplace, you know how important it is to anticipate risks in advance and provide suitable PPE for employees to protect them while carrying out their duties.
However, even with the best safety policies in place it is impossible to check people are fully complying with them at all times.

If there is significant work involving machinery or manual handling carried out at your workplace, a mandatory glove policy should be your first line of defence against hand injuries. Designed to protect the hands of the wearer while working with machinery or sharp tools, cut resistant gloves offer a higher level of protection than regular work gloves. Our cut resistant gloves are made seamless, created in one complete piece using a special machine.

All of our gloves are made from durable, high performance materials including Kevlar, Dyneema, HPPE (High Performance Poly Ethylene) or fibreglass. They are then coated with an additional protective layer of Nitrile, latex or Polyurethane. Kevlar and Dyneema protect against cuts, slashes and abrasion, whilst maintaining a high degree of dexterity.
Nitrile coatings provide excellent resistance to cuts, abrasion, grease and oil whilst maintaining a superior grip. Polyurethane coatings provide excellent dexterity and sensitivity for handling small components or large objects in a drier highly soiled environment.

We have adopted a system of colour coding for the cut resistant gloves that we stock, allowing everyone involved to recognise the level of protection provided at a glance. The three colour system of red, orange and green makes a mandatory glove policy easier to implement and enforce, allowing everyone involved to recognise when they are working safely.

Measured by the EN388:2003 or the ISO 13997 standard, there are many factors involved in determining cut resistance, including force, cut length, direction, blade sharpness and flexibility.
The EN388 standard is due for an update in the near future; the most significant change expected will be an introduction of the ISO13997 concept. This new standard will incorporate a letter from A-F indicating the cut resistance.

Enfield Safety can provide educational training nationwide to assist you and your employees in the correct selection of gloves, ensuring adequate protection and compliance. Samples, posters, leaflets, certificated interactive training is all available as a service to you our customer.
